The brothers faced an unexpected challenge on their last day. Instead of starting the race in Cuneo, Italy, the day began with a three-hour, 140-mile drive to the new start line due to a tunnel being out for construction. They kicked off the revised 40-mile route with 4,700 ft of vertical climbing in Briel-sur-Roya, France. Comparatively, it was a fast day with two climbs – the first was 6 miles with 2,000 ft of vertical climbing and the second was 7.3 miles with 2,200 ft of vertical climbing. After a beautiful descent into Nice, it was fitting that the race end with a short, steep climb to the finish.
Powell, Kellim and Barrett were very excited to be greeted at the finish line by some family members. The rest of the day will be spent relishing in their memorable journey.
Please continue to check back for updates on the next stage of this epic journey as the donations are given to nonprofit organizations working in the areas of brain/mental health research, education, prevention and treatment. They would like to extend their appreciation to everyone that supported them on their quest to challenge themselves and raise awareness for brain / mental health and want to ensure you can continue to follow and participate in this massively important initiative.
